EICAS has been selected by the JUPITER Consortium to present at ITS World Congress 2015 its innovative precise localisation system ERSEC.
ERSEC is a precise on-board vehicle localization system developed within the FP7 247955 ERSEC Project "Enhanced Road Safety by integrating Egnos-Galileo data with on-board Control system" (www.ersecproject.eu).
ERSEC is able to output the position and attitude on the road map of the equipped vehicle and of all the obstacles (such as other vehicles, peoples and any kind of fixed or mobile objects) around it with a measurement accuracy of the order of 0.1 meter (position) and 0.01 radians (attitude) at a sampling rate of 100 Hz. Based on an intelligent data-fusion of the EGNOS/GNSS data - correlated to the Road-GIS digital local map - with the measurement data obtained from an instrument set installed on board of the vehicle, including vehicle dynamic sensors (tachometer and gyro) and environmental sensors (scanlasers), ERSEC has been successfully tested in the Torino urban environment (ERSEC Project) and at Centro Sicurezza of Centro Ricerche FIAT (Orbassano, MECCANO Project).
The ITS World Congress is an annual international conference focused on Intelligent Transport Systems. Each year, the World Congress is hosted in one of three regions: Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas. This year, over 10,000 international ITS experts, professionals, public and private sector leaders, academics, researchers, engineers and students, representing all corners of the ITS industry, will gather at the 22nd ITS World Congress in Bordeaux, France on Monday 5 – Friday 9 October.
With over 250 programme sessions, 350 exhibiting companies spread across 25,000 sqm of exhibition space, 35 live demonstrations, 20 associated events, 8 technical visits, 2 ITS Competition programmes and a multitude of social and networking events, the 2015 ITS World Congress will offer unique and valuable opportunities and learning experiences for every ITS professional.
JUPITER (Joint EUropean Project for International ITS/EGNSS awareness Raising) is a collaborative European project coordinated by Aerospace Valley, financed by the European Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020 and managed by the European GNSS Agency (GSA). To reach this objective, the JUPITER consortium implements 4 main actions:
The first major action of JUPITER is to promote innovative EGNSS based ITS applications at the ITS World Congress 2015 held in Bordeaux from 5 to 9 October 2015 through a dedicated EGNSS Application Village gathering SMEs and end-users. To select a wide range of available solutions and examples of successful uses to be present on this EGNSS Application village, a call for candidates addressed to SMEs, local authorities, and transport operators using or developing EGNSS solutions for ITS was organised in Europe and worldwide. Among all the applications received, the jury composed with the JUPITER consortium members and ITS/ EGNSS experts has selected 22 SMEs and 7 transport authorities, including EICAS Automazione!
